Garden Visit: Wye Valley Sculpture Garden
The final garden in our series of visits to the Wye Valley and Vale of Usk.The Wye Valley Sculpture Garden is the vision of artist Gemma Kate Wood. Gemma's sculptures sit in a 4 acre garden of formal lawns surrounded by abundant herbaceous borders, a pond, woodland areas, snowdrop wood, an orchard and meadows.

A sharing of ideas whilst enjoying some homemade soup made using vegetables from members' gardens.Experts on hand, including Ken Power, to show the different methods they use to store or preserve garden produce. There are many new ideas, so come along and share your tips or find out how others do it! We will cover root storage, drying, jamming, chutneys, other preserves, bottling etc. Equipment used will be on hand for you to see.Please bring along your own garden produce…

Garden Visit: Old Court Nurseries and The Picton Garden
Saturday 8th October DATE TO BE CONFIRMED Back in 2019, Ross Barber from Old Court Nurseries came to talk to us about theimportant role insects play in our gardens. However, Old Court Nurseries is betterknown for its Michaelmas daises. Having specialised in Michaelmas daisies since 1906,they now hold the Plant Heritage National Collection of over 430 varieties. These aredisplayed in the charming 1.5-acre Picton Garden, nestled on the lower slopes of theMalvern Hills.

When Alan retired to the Forest of Dean, after a career running the East Anglian Field Studies Centre, he found that he had more time for his hobby of wildlife photography. He bought his own woodland, and started producing blogs and a website about woodlands and wildflowers. Ultimately, this led him to publish a book about woodland wild flowers, packed with all of his own photographs.Alan's book will be on sale at the end of the evening.
