1865 First Bream Show

First Bream Show  Saturday 5th August 1865

From the Gloucester Journal, 12 August 1865

A flower show was held here on Saturday last (Saturday 5th August) under the patronage of the incumbent, the Rev. C. Witherby, and other local gentry. This is the first show of the kind ever held in Bream and we congratulate Mr. Witherby in thus introducing into this neighbourhood, which abounds with iron ore and coal mines a society having for its object the cultivation of cottage gardens. The day was fine and the attendance highly encouraging. A great number of prizes were awarded to the successful competitors, and the proceedings were greatly enlivened by the Rifle band.
